Introductions and Book Polls

Hello, hello.

Well, there's probably not much need for an introduction. At present the only people invited to this community are the people who said in my journal that they would join, so you already know where the community idea came from. I'd really like it if people actually participate, though, and new members would be pretty cool, too.

In case you're interested, the community name comes from the Holbrook Jackson quote in the profile. I thought it was appropriate, and also it echoes of the phrase "books on tape" which made me giggle. You know how I feel about plays on words. :)

So here's the basic idea: Choose a book for the beginning of the month, read it, and comment on it anytime throughout the month until we choose a new one. There will be two posts for choosing the next month's book -- a suggestion post and a poll post.

However, since this is my startup community and to facilitate getting this show on the road, I'm skipping the suggestion post and generating the first book poll from my own little library, selecting from books I've not yet read (or haven't read in quite a long time). Fortunately I generally have good taste (imnsho of course), and I will endeavour to offer a fair variety to choose from.

So, without further adieu...
